I have a love/hate relationship with writing hospital scenes. I have a little love/much hate relationship with writing hospital scenes in which one person is so sedated they can't think clearly. But I'm working through it. So bear with me.
Other than that, I don't have much to say. Some time in the next few days, I might be able to post some of the photos I took during my walk in the forest today. You know, if I can pluck up the energy to edit and upload them. I have a million other, more important things I should do before that, though. *le sigh*
Tomorrow's supposed to have temps up into the low 30's (Celsius, that is). Yay. (Not.) And low 30's isn't even all that bad yet. The thing is, I don't fit into my summer clothes anymore. And my legs are so pale that I don't want to wear a dress to work (that I look fat in, to boot). I don't think I'm gonna like summer much if it means it's gonna be really hot and miserable. Plus, I don't like dresses or skirts. I'm such a tomboy. But shorts at work are a no-go, so it's either sweating or fancy clothes. Do not like.
And it's half past midnight again. I should have been on the way to bad an hour ago. Always the same on a Sunday. I hate messy sleep cycles and night-owling when I have to get up fairly early. My life kinda sucks. (But then, yeah, I know it could be worse. I just like high-level complaining sometimes.)

Date: 2011-06-26 10:48 pm (UTC)Heh. I'm still waiting for the day when I meet the author who claims to just love writing hospital scenes. Because, yeah, as far as I'm considered, they're generally to be avoided. Unless you're really in the mood to do your research. And even then, for me it's often a matter of trying to sound smarter and more knowledgeable than I really am (which means I felt downright stupid "conning" my way through writing a prison infirmary scene XD).
But...all that aside. This means you're writing a hospital scene, yes? Related to the prompt!fic you were mentioning progress on the other day? Eee! \o/
Ahem. That is...poor Neal.

Date: 2011-06-27 06:26 am (UTC)Yes, I'm still working on that thing. It's now over 8,000 words, and there's quite a lot of dialogues I sitll wanna write. I have a feeling the end product is gonna surpass the 10,000 word mark. Which isn't such a bad thing.
Actually, I've muddled my way through this without a lot of research. Which is probably due to the fact that I did all that when I wrote "Off Target". I now have a pretty good idea how to write shooting victims in the hospital. And my whining was less about the medical aspect than the dialogue aspect. What I struggle with is that there's no real conversation because the patient can't really thik clearly. So what do they say, other than asking whether the patient is in pain or telling him to hang in there. But I'm getting there, so don't worry.

Date: 2011-06-28 03:17 am (UTC)Ah. I see... I usually have the opposite problem. Once I get past the medical-ese, loopy conversations are funnn. XD
But I'm glad you're making progress! *awaits the end result*

Date: 2011-06-28 06:44 am (UTC)I'm at 13,000+ words and counting. This may well become the longest White Collar story I've written. Did not expect that at all when I started this story.

Date: 2011-06-28 09:06 pm (UTC)Lol, I also have pale, snow-whitish legs :)) I just hope that we don't have any more days with 40ºC. With 30ºC I'm good :)
