Spontaneity and Cumberbatch live ftw!

Holy shit. I just bought a ticket for the "Letters Live" event at the Hay-on-Wye festival. I'll be seeing Benedict Cumberbatch live and in person, in a festival tent in Wales, reading things to the general public in that charismatic voice of his. I never thought in a million years that would happen. Ever. Well, until two days ago when the idea was first conceived. Life works in mysterious ways.

It's kind of a long story how that came about, and it was borne out of a cancelled appointment with a Canadian friend, which I was quite disappointed about. And then I decided to transform the whole thing into a win/win situation. If I'm not going to Ludlow, I might as well go to Hay-on-Wye. Not fifteen minutes later, I had bought that festival ticket and changed the rental car reservation. Thank God for the internet!

It'll be a two and a half hour drive each way, but I hope it'll be worth it. And I also hope the weather's not gonna be as shite as it has been today in Banbury.

Can I just add that I love being in the UK? It almost feels like a second home, every time I'm here. And staying with the BFF and her family is always such a pleasure. And now the battery of my laptop has almost run out, so I better get this posted and then get my butt into bed.

But...... YAY!

Ah!! Gosh you take a lot of pictures and make sure to record at least his voice :))))

I hope we're allowed to take pictures! And voice recording will probably *not* be allowed, but I'll see what I can do. I hear there was talk about a BBC live stream, so maybe that's the way to go if you can't attend in person? I don't know any details, though.

Hat alles geklappt, und es war super. Ich poste nachher wenn ich zu Hause bin einen ausführlichen Bericht und Fotos und Videos. Benedict selbst war nach der Lesung leider nicht zu kriegen, aber es war trotzdem toll.
