AVATAR x5 -- check
Dec. 30th, 2009 01:15 amI must be truly insane. Or at least there are indications that I might be. Not only have I spent more than 40 EUR on theater tickets for this movie by now, today I have actually proven just how far my antipathy for German dubbing goes. Why? Well, I drove out 100 km each way to the Netherlands so I could see the movie in 3D in English. (Which, to tell you the truth, wasn't worth it because the audience sucked was very noisy, restless and distracting and my friend also lost his umbrella).
Of course the movie itself was still fantastic. I can't get enough of the beautiful images, and if we lived in the Star Trek universe, I'd constantly be running holodeck programs that featured Pandora and the Na'vi. It's hard to put my fascination with this movie into words, especially since I still think the story is pretty predictable, but it's the execution of the story that has me mesmerized. Plus it's not my intention to say that the script is badly written, quite the opposite. Even after having seen it five times, I can still smile at some of Jake's and Grace's quips and feel a certain kind of hatred for the Colonel. Of course it helps that I find the Jake Sully character (or should I say both of them?) infinitely intriguing.
I'm not usually someone to go out and spend tons of money on special edition DVDs, but I just know that I'm willing to spend whatever it takes on the special edition Blu-ray -- whenever it may come out. So here's some advice to my friends: I hope I'm not driving you crazy with not being able to shut up about the movie. Please just ignore me. Give me a lopsided smile and a pat on the head and let me be a fangirl. I promise it's not gonna last forever, but I'm sure as hell gonna enjoy it for as long as it does!
