"Honey, it's Neal. Do you want to talk to him?" Elizabeth asked, holding up the cell phone.

Peter, pale-faced and messy-haired, looked up from where he half sat, half lay in bed, a mug of chamomile tea barely touched on the nightstand.

"Is it urgent?" he croaked weakly.

Elizabeth understood and raised her hand to indicate so. Outside in the hallway, she lifted the phone to her ear again. "Neal, Peter's sick. If this can wait, I think it might be better to leave him alone for a few days."

"Stomach flu?" Neal asked.

"How did you know?"

"It's going around in the office."

"Oh," Elizabeth said. "Not you too, I hope?"

"Nah, I'm fine," he reassured her.

"So, uhm, is there anything I can do for you while Peter's incapacitated?"

"Thanks, Elizabeth, but this can wait until after he's better."

"Okay. Take care, Neal."

"You too. And tell Peter 'Get Well Soon'."

As soon as Neal hit the Disconnect button, he ran to the bathroom to give a repeat performance of emptying what was left of his stomach contents into the toilet bowl.

When the retching stopped, he figured he better contact Diana or Jones to call in sick.

Poor Neal and Peter. Stomach flu is never fun and it does have the habit of getting around offices and such.

Aw <3 Neal trying to be nice to Peter while he has it just as bad. This is a great window into their relationship, this moment.

Yep, stomach flu definitely sucks. Thankfully, I wasn't writing this from momentary experience. Last time I had it was in December last year, and I'm not keen on repeating that experience any time soon.

There's currently some kind of viral infection going around our office, but so far I've been lucky to dodge it. Instead I'm suffering through oncoming hay fever, which also sucks. Hmpf.

Thank you, sweetie cakes! Don't you just wanna draw both of them into a hug? (And then send them straight back to bed.)

Well. No, I want to send them straight to bed. I'll save the hug for later. Sick people gross me out so bad (and none of them worse than me when I'm sick.)

LOL! I'm not a touchy-feely person, but I do get that mother hen thing every now and then. Not that I've mother-henned a lot of people in my day. When I'm sick, I usually just want to be left alone, but sometimes it'd be nice if there was someone there to bring me tea and things. But usually it's just me. The fate of being single with friends and family not living in the neighborhood...

Ah, yes... I remember getting sick in college 400 miles away and moaning to myself that I wouldn't snap at my little sister for hovering if there was just someone else who could go buy me food. :/ So not a touchy-feely person here either, but I totally get it.

Moar Sick!Whump? Ernnnnng, I'm not sure I wanna go there. Puking Neal? Really? Not sure I enjoy that kind of squick. Though... considering this is the second Neal-pukes-his-guts-out story I've written... maybe I need to reconsider.
