From one curse to another
Apr. 11th, 2011 04:37 pmThis morning I caved. The hay fever was so bad that I took an antihistamine. I've been trying to stay away from them as much as possible, but I just knew that I couldn't get through the day as it was. So now I'm feeling the side effects, because I'm really really tired. It's kinda hard to keep my eyes open enough to get actual work done. Plus I have a headache too, but I'm not sure if that's from the antihistamine or not. But, hey, at least my eyes and nose don't itch anymore. I'm trying to decide what the lesser of evils is in this case, and I haven't come to a conclusion yet.
So here I am, sipping a mug of tea, hoping the caffeine will do something. (Yeah, I know, not effin' likely... *sigh*) So, are you sick of me whining about hay fever yet? I warned you it would be like this in the spring. At least I haven't had any allergic asthma yet, so maybe there is an improvement from last year, even though it doesn't really feel like it.
Jake is in the shop today, getting a regularly scheduled maintenance overhaul. Let's hope they don't find anything that needs fixing. But, really, they shouldn't. He's only two years old.
On a positive note, S brought cake to work today as it was her birthday on Saturday. Yumm! The chocolate and cheese cake was so good that I had to go for a second helping. Wäääääh! And I wanted to lose weight!
I'm approaching tomorrow with mixed feelings. The trip to Istanbul should be kinda fun, but I'm getting very tired of the function side of things. The small talk, the awkward efforts at fraternizing, the fancy clothes, it's so not my world. I sure ain't no Neal Caffrey. Plus, suitcase packing tonight will be a bitch. I know that it's only as big a deal as I make it, but I just can't get myself to remotely like the process. I feel another case of major procrastination coming on when I get home tonight. *double sigh*
The comedy show on Saturday at the Kom(m)ödchen was really fun! It was a Swiss duo (called Ohne Rolf) who only communicated by using pre-printed posters. There was hardly an spoken dialogue, and it still worked. Searge and I laughed a lot, it was a great night out. I also really like the venue. I saw something there before, and it's cozy and just the right size.
And, gee, look already it's 4:30 and I really need to get going if I want to wrap things up before going home today. And maybe the caffeine is doing its bidding, so I better use the newfound energy to review another monitoring report.
