Where is everybody? Back to work? Post New-Year's depression? Recruited by Agent Burke for an undercover mission? Eaten by a sea monster? I mean, come on. I get two lousy comments for my latest drabble? Was it that bad? ;o)

No, seriously, I find that this week, things seem a lot quieter than around the holidays. Guess it really is because people are working again or back to school or whatever it is that they're doing that they haven't been doing between Christmas and New Year's.

So this is my random whiny post for the day. I watched the season two premiere of V 2009 tonight. Gah. I'm seriously considering giving up on the show. Man, that was so bad. And it's not just the effects. (I mean, seriously, Star Trek in the 90's did better than that!) The writing isn't that great either. It still irks the hell out of me when I think about all the great TV shows that got cancelled when crap like V 2009 (there, I said it) gets a new season. I'm the last person to not give a sci-fi show a chance, but, well, looks like they blew it.

And just because I was too lazy to get off the couch and disconned (<-- read again, because there'd a Freudian typo in there -- I was actually thinking of "disconnect") the USB stick, I watched episode 2x22 of Chuck again. Any excuse for a Bomer fix will do, really. And sometimes I'm a little thick. I only realized now that Chuck's last line is actually a Matrix quote. How could I not recognize it? I love that movie. (Probably an indication that I need to see it again.)

Random observation: Is Matt Bomer rather small or Zachary Levi really huge? Or both? I never had the impression that Matt was on the small side, but Zachary just seems to loom over him whenever they're in a scene together. I think I read somewhere that Matt is 5'11, equaling 1.80 m for the imperially challenged (and please don't ask me why I retained that information), which isn't all that small for a guy.

[livejournal.com profile] anaithis just recently told me that the actress who plays this red-haired, no-nonsense video screen CIA woman is John Billingsley's wife. I can't even explain why, but I think that's cool. (Apparently she's really quirky, just like John. And she said, "Auf Wiedersehen.") My favorite quote? "Go with your heart, buddy. Our brains only screw things up." (That's Chuck, not the video screen CIA woman.)

My brain's still stuck in White Collar fan fiction mode. It just keeps going and going. Wish I had the time and energy to write it all down, but vacation's over. And I have this kinda long-ish story that I need to post before the 18th because it deals with the 'Point Blank' aftermath. I really want to get it out there before Jeff Eastin pops my bubble and boots my story into AU land. Well, hopefully I'll still make that. Not many scenes left to pin down now.

Oh, by the way! Favorite geek moment of the day: Three-way conversation in the office -- one colleague in the US, two in Germany. Point of discussion was what we were going to do in the evening after work on the two nights that we get to spend with the colleagues in North Carolina when we visit at the end of January.

Mel: So what are we going to do on Monday and Tuesday night?
Helen: I'd love to go to that outlet mall you talked about. Don't care which day.
Me: Tuesday's not working for me. Must watch White Collar.
Helen: Okay, Monday it is, then.
Mel: How about we go to the outlet mall on Monday and Tuesday at my place, dinner and then TV?
Me: Sounds great. I'm in.
Mel: Good.
Me: We can tie Helen to the armchair and make her watch with us. Or let her do entries in the clinical database or something.
Mel: Sure. I have remote access. But she can also play with the cats.
Helen: The cats sound good.
Me: But the main guy is really handsome!
Helen: Well.... maybe I'll watch with you after all.
Me: Excellent. I can give you the 25 or so episodes that have aired before. Or we can use the trans-Atlantic flight for me to brief you. You know, 10 minutes White Collar, 4 hours Matt Bomer. I can bring visual material.
Helen: Looking forward to it. (Read: Not.)
:-D

My colleagues at work asked me today if there's anything specific I'd like to have for a birthday present. I was thinking maybe a Blu-ray. But I'm not sure what yet. Any recommendations?

Most of the movies I really wanted to have on my DVD shelf, I already have. I've been pondering getting New Moon on Blu-ray. I mean, yeah, I didn't particularly like the second movie. I get cold shivers whenever I see Mr. Bird's-Nest-For-A-Hairdo (yes, I mean you, RPatz), and not in a good way! Which is why I haven't bought it yet. But still, Michael Welch is in it. Not to forget the PFac (speak: Pee-Fudge). And it's not Stephenie Meyer's fault that they cast a baby-faced pretty boy for the role of Edward. Oh, wait, maybe it is. I have a feeling that after I rewatch it, you know, at some point, I'm gonna have to wash it down with a real vampire movie. Like Daybreakers or something. But then again, Twilight isn't a vampire story in the first place. It's high school drama which features vampires.

And now here I am, 10:20 PM, and I'm ready to drop dead. I hate it when my work schedule and my sleep cycle don't align. Always results in too little sleep and too many nights feeling sluggish. So I better get some rack. This is TeeJay signing off.

The "lousy" was referring to the quantity, not the quality. :-P

I'm really on the fence with V. I like most of the cast, which is usually what keeps me watching. But if the plot and effects keep being as bad as they are, I don't think the cast will make me stick around.

You know, I think often actors appear much bigger on TV or in the movies than they actually are. Lots of US actors are tiny. Seriously. Chris Marquette isn't much bigger than I am (-> 1.72m), which, for a guy, isn't tall. They just have ways to use cinematography to make things appear smaller or bigger than they are.

Yes, I can have prolific fanfic phases, but what I'm doing now is rather unusual. I often have uninspired phases where I don't write for months. Churning them out like I have been is a lot more frequent than I usually write, but I'm going to revel in it for as long as it lasts. I just finished a rather long post 2x09 story that's currently being beta'ed. I'm probably gonna have to post that one in multiple chapters.
