Okay, so I've got this new computer. And I wanna download my e-mail, but how? See, the thing is, I've been using Eudora since the dawn of time. Simply because this was the client we had at uni and I never bothered to change to something else due to compatibility reasons.

And a few years ago, Qualcomm decided to give Eudora up and now it's no more. Well, no, that's not true. It still exists as open source software, but it's now based on Thunderbird, which I hate with a passion because it will just never do what I want it to do. I would keep using the old Eudora (version 7.something), but that's not cutting it anymore either cause it has issues with HTML formatting and stuff.

Here's my cry for help. I'm looking for a new mail client that's not Eudora and not Thunderbird. Preferably freeware, but I'm willing to go payware too if it's worth it. Incredimail I just looked at, and got annoyed that I can only install it if I make some search engine and homepage I'd never heard of (and don't want) my defaults. Uhm, no. Fuck off. Windows Mail and Outlook aren't options for me either.

I tried The Bat! for a while, but I don't like that apparently you can't have all your different accounts dump your mail in one big inbox. Cause that's what I need. There just doesn't seem to be any damn e-mail client I like! It's driving me crazy.

So, anyone got any recommendations for me? (And please don't say Lotus Notes because I hate that even more than Thunderbird.)

Yeah, I might actually go with Thunderbird. Eudora has a few bugs that literally really bug me (pun intended), so I figured I should probably switch to the latest version of Thunderbird because hopefully they'd fixed those bugs in the meantime. And it's actually working kinda okay. I might just be able to get used to it. I think the initial reason why didn't want it was because it wouldn't import my e-mails from the old Eudora. But now that I had imported it to the new Eudora, which is based on Thunderbird, the actual Thunderbird imported them as well. Win/win.
