Locked in your silky prison
May. 1st, 2012 11:50 amHee, this is hilarious! I love it when fans give in to silly notions.
And just for the record, I'm not even a fan of the purple shirt and its apparent sexiness. I'd much rather have myself some Neal Caffrey in a tight purple shirt. Still, I thought this was funny as shit, and thus deserves to be shared. \o/

Date: 2012-05-01 09:38 pm (UTC)It came highly recommended by a good friend of mine, so I finally checked it out last month. And then bought the Blu-rays after watching the pilot because I was sure I was gonna love it. And I did. It's awesome.
I don't think I'm gonna go as far as writing fanfic for it, mainly because I find it so difficult to make the characters sound right, and mainly because I'm not into the whole slash thing (which seems to be the predominant inclination in this fandom as well -- is there any show with two male leads where that doesn't happen?) and because I haven't really had anything spinning in my head that I feel needs to be written down. I think Cami said you hadn't watched s2 yet, so I'll refrain from metioning something I was about to write. Cause there is this one thing I do wonder. But anyway... :-)

Date: 2012-05-02 06:14 am (UTC)I found it incredibly hard to find Gen Sherlock fic. A very nice fan sent me a Gen reclist the other day, and I haven't been able to go through all of it yet, but do you have anything you can readily recommend off the top of your head? I'm really craving post Reichenbach fic, specifically where John and Sherlock are reunited. (That should be interesting to watch when it finally airs!)
I had a Sherlock Holmes phase when I was teen and devoured all the books. But I must admit that I haven't touched them since. I don't even know if I still have them. Probably on my parents' attic somewhere. But, yes, the modernized version of the concept is just wonderful. Moffat and Gatiss are geniuses! So well cast, too.
After I'd watched the show, I knew I needed some icons, so I made some. Feel free to snag.

Here's a post-Reichenbach WIP: http://strapped-wrist.livejournal.com/8635.html (9 parts so far, with no reunion--but it's quite well done so far)

Sorry if John!whump isn't your prefered cuppa, because it rather is mine (some of the authors, such as ariadnes, have fics that give equal treatment to Sherlock). :3
Could I have that gen rec list you mentioned? *grabby hands*
I'll check out your icons, for sure. ;)

Date: 2012-05-03 08:51 pm (UTC)Love the show, too, btw, but the long waits between the season are something else. Not that I complain too much, considering the rare high-quality TV which is the result.
I have my own theory about the end of season 2 - care to hear?

Date: 2012-05-07 08:27 pm (UTC)Thanks so much for those recs. I will surely look at them. I just e-mailed you the rec list I have. And you're asking me if John!Whump isn't my cuppa?! Hello?!! I'm the whump junkie. I don't care who gets whumped. Bring it on!!! :-D

Date: 2012-05-07 08:44 pm (UTC)Sure, hit me with your theory! Btw, Moffat or Gatiss said somewhere that there's a clue about what happened at the end of Reichenbach in The Blind Banker. I've since rewatched that episode twice, and I'm just not seeing it. Very frustrating.

Date: 2012-05-07 10:24 pm (UTC)Though, in this particular fandom, it pays off not to be picky. There are some pretty good, plotty slash fics in it.
Okay:
Clue 1: Sherlock asked Molly for help. She would be certainly able to fake an autopsy for him.
Clue 2: When John is called away, Sherlock is playing with a baseball. What for? That's not really his usual behaviour. But there is this old trick, where you put a baseball under your arm in order to pretent not to have a pulse.
Clue 3: When this big car? LKW? Truck? turns up in front of Barts, Sherlock asks Moriaty to step back from the ledge. So he can't see what's going on down the street.
Clue 4: He also asks John to go back, making sure that this garage is in HIS way, so John can't see the street beyond Sherlock neither.
Clue 5: The way Sherlock falls, with the long coat and the arms spread out, he would slow down his fall a little bit...not much, but if there is not the hard street under him, but something soft instead, ie on top of this truck, it wouldn't be hard to survive the fall. The roof is not THAT high.
Clue 6: The biker turns up pretty convenient to stop John from immediatly looking behind the garage. Enough time for Sherlock to roll himself from whatever he really fell on to the street (and put some fake blood/red spray paint on him). We even see the truck driving away.
Clue 7: All the people turning up are pretty fast, and very insistent to bring Sherlock away immediatly. Preplanned helper?

Date: 2012-05-08 06:32 am (UTC)And, yes, of course Molly would have played a part in a) all the blood on the street when John sees Sherlock's body and b) making sure everyone will believe that Sherlock is actually dead. No doubt about it.
I'm pretty sure Sherlock staged the whole thing, including paramedics and everything. Maybe even the crowd that gathered there. He's meticulous like that, isn't he?

Date: 2012-05-08 07:51 am (UTC)But I admit, the only reason I noticed the baseball was because the very same trick was featured in a Mentalist episode, which happend to air the same week.
I'm wondering if Mycroft was involved in the plan or not.
I didn't know that there is supposed to be a clue in "The blind Baker". Now I have to rewatch it, too.

Date: 2012-05-09 05:11 pm (UTC)Btw, I wrote a cute little ficlet myself the other day as a response to a prompt that just popped into my head. Care to read? (http://comment-fic.livejournal.com/338410.html?thread=59880426#t59880426) (So, yeah, apparently I *can* write Sherlock fanfic if prompted right...)

Date: 2012-05-15 10:00 pm (UTC)As for gen Sherlock fics, there's a gen reclist that someone sent to me. I can e-mail you that one. Bug me about it again, because now it's late and I'm not sure where I stored it on the new computer and I really need to crash. Send me a reminder e-mail, will ya?

Date: 2012-05-15 10:42 pm (UTC)Yes if you could sent that e-mail I'd be very grateful!! :D Go to sleep! Here it's one hour less, so go, you need your rest!
I'll send you an e-mail right now ;P
