Why? Because I have a stalker. Yay me.

Okay, well, maybe not really. You remember when I ranted about this guy on our Chris Marquette message board who kept spamming it with irrelevant posts that hardly anyone ever responded to and that kept pissing our members off (including myself)? Well, he found my LJ (even though I don't have it linked anywhere on the Marquette site) and read my ranty entry (which I probably should have f-locked -- hindsight is 20/20, right?). Then he blew a gasket in our guestbook section where he threatened he's going to speak ill about our site and our (I quote) "beloved Chris Marquette" across the internet.

*makes jazz hands* Ooooh, I'm so scared!

But since this actually kinda creeps me out (the fact that he's reading my entries), I've gone and f-locked anything that was even remotely personal. And effective immediately, I will be f-locking anything that is not fan fiction or graphics or that I don't consider appropriate for the public eye.

Thus, dear friends, if you're not already on my mutual f-list and you'd like to keep reading anything in my journal that's not fan fiction or icons/graphics, please comment here or PM me so I can see if I want us to become mutual friends. But please note that if I don't recognize your user ID from the fandoms I frequent and/or you don't have any entries in your journal, I'm probably not gonna friend back. Because, you know, you could be my stalker...

And, see, I don't usually do this. Kick people off our message board for the slightest transgression, or publicly insult them, call them names. It takes a lot for me to get to that point. So when it happens, the person must have royally pissed me off. Which is to say, I'd like to think this dude earned it. And, no, I don't care if he reads this.

You realize that this post isn't friends locked right?

Yes, for good reason. I don't care if this dude reads it. And I wanna give people who aren't on my f-list the chance to respond. So, yeah, I did that on purpose.

Okay, just wanted to make sure. :) I know I've made the post where I say "this is friends locked! Blah, blah, blah..." and then forget to friends lock it

Yeah, thanks for the hint, though. Sometimes it's better to double-check. :-)

Which reminds me, you are okay with the fact that I didn't friend you back? It's just a matter of my journal policy.

Yeah, sure, I'll leave that up to you whom you wanna friend. Just means you won't see my locked entries, but I guess that's your loss, not mine. ;o)

I can read you locked entries...but you shouldn't be able to see mine.

Right. Sorry, I find this whole LJ business confusing. Somehow I was of the impression that only those people can read my locked entries that are friends both ways. But this works too, of course.

oh dear, guess that's the downside of fandoms/message boards... guess we're mutual friend already =)

Yep, that's the downside of things. Where there's a larger group of people, there's the occasional personal hiccup. I guess that goes for most situations in life, not just those online.

And, yeah, we're mutual friends (on and off LJ). *hugs*

Oh crap. I must admit I always wondered why you didn't f-lock your private entries. I mean, it's the internet after all. So, welcome to the club!

I just googled your username and found your journal.

Was ein Idiot. Geflockt ist auf jeden Fall besser, man fühlt sich da doch etwas sicherer.

Das Icon! *lol*
Auch wenn ich die Serie nicht gucke, das Icon ist klasse! :D

Awww... I agree, that is creepy... it sucks that the Internet is actually full of such people... somehow sooner or later everyone gets one *assigned*

On a lighter note, the icon is love! Too bad you're not a Stargate Atlantis fan, "Connor as Michael" icon would so totally fit this post :P

Hihi, ich weiß gar nicht mehr was das für eine Szene war. Ich glaube Sally trifft da den Geist aus den 80'ern, der ihr das beibringt, was man bei Harry Potter wohl "Apparieren" nennt.

Oh, I'm sure there's tons of icons that fit this. :o) Generally, I meet such nice people on the internet that it's easy to forget there are freckin' idiots among them. So I guess this was my reality check.

Creepy... Some people just don't have anything else to do with their lives? You do well in F-locking your LJ, sweetie. *squish*

Don't worry, it's kinda blown over by now. But thanks. I'm gonna keep f-locking for a while.

**SIGHS**
The dynamics of fandom eh??
I am not familiar with Chris Marquette but I have seen similar viciousness on IMDB
Where do these people come from? I mean what rock do they crawl out from under??
If you hate someone that much then walk away from them.

Yeah, fandom can be a blessing and a curse. Generally, though, I can honestly say that I've met wonderful, lovely people through it. You just get the occasional oddball that screws things up.

Don't get me started on the IMDb message boards. Seriously, there is so much nasty verbal sparring going on there that I've taken my leave from that site (except for the occasional glimpse whenever I need some info). IMDb is like a double-edged sword. I know from experience that actual crew members read and post there (like director Nick Cassavetes), and I also know parents of actors hang out on those boards, trying to right the wrongs posted about their kids. But there's so many effin' trolls and just generally stupid people there that it's just no fun to go back. A friend of mine has repeatedly (and wrongly) been accused of being a studio shill for posting positive things about movies on there and taking on some of the trolls. It's also caused her many, many a grievance because sometimes people get nasty and personal, to the point where they actually hurt your feelings.

Gaaaah! See, I told you not to get me started. ;-P

Hey, how did you stumble across this post? I'm f-locking all my non-fanfic and non-graphic stuff now, so if you're interested, I can put you on my f-list.

Date: 2011-09-02 07:03 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] black-raven135.livejournal.com
I look at IMDB mainly to see what others think of a particular film and to sometimes view what happening on a particular actor's site, ie what films are in production or post production, but take all the rest with a grain of salt
I do like The Film Stage and FirstShowing in particular and often read the sites, but IMDB gets a quick over for reasons you cited.

I haven't a clue how I found you, but I often ask others same question as my entries are locked.
I wonder if it was some mutual journal??

From: [identity profile] tj-teejay.livejournal.com
Yeah, sometimes I hit the IMDb boards if I wanna find some info. I think it's also where I more or less got confirmation that Matt Bomer is indeed gay. (Not that I find that fact shocking or anything. I'm straight, but a supporter.) ;-)

Maybe we both commented on something over at [livejournal.com profile] kriadydragon's journal. She's our only mutual friend. Of course I hang out in most of the prominent White Collar comms too. And, uh, was that a yes on the f-list add?

Oh, wait, I just realized you're not even a White Collar fan. I've never watched any Stargate, so it looks like we're not traveling in the same fandoms. Oh well...

Although I am not a viewer of WC...
YES definitely Kriadydragon

"....was that a yes on the f-list add?"
