We are the knights who say.... Ni!!

Okay, so I said I would post something more elaborate on Monday. I didn't. But that's because I was basically feeling like a pile of horse poo yesterday. It's not a good idea to be at altitudes of 33,000 feet for prolonged periods of time when your sinuses are raging with infection (this was on Sunday night, though). I'm sure my seat neighbor hates me because there is no way he didn't catch what I have. It's also the first time that my ears hurt from the pressure difference. It took a whole day for my right ear to go back to normal. So what I'm saying is: Yesterday sucked copious amounts of ass.

Then again, I guess I'm just in a whiny mood. It could be so much worse. In the grand scheme of things, it's just a head cold. I wasn't even running a fever. So, yes, I'm a wuss. And I'm not even male. I'm feeling much better today too, but I'm glad I stayed and worked from home. Yay workplace, and yay awesome line manager who lets us do this on occasion and even tells me to make sure to properly recuperate. I even managed to go through all my 260-something e-mails from last week, catch up with H and M over the Office Communicator and review an ICF.

News flash: I discovered a new TV show. Off The Map. That's what it's called. I was bored on Monday, and desperately looking for something new to watch that would keep my entertained for a day. Because with the headache and the sneezing and sniffling, I just physcially wasn't capable of doing anything that required bodily movement. I checked out what new mid-season shows aired recently, and I stumbled across two that sounded kind of interesting. One was Off The Map, the other Body Of Proof.

I started out watching the pilot of Body of Proof first, but it didn't really grip me, so I didn't bother with the second episode. Then I watched the pilot of Off The Map, and actually liked it. I mean, sure, it's totally bogus in a TV show kind of way. Life in a South American jungle clinic isn't like that, and I'm well aware of that fact. But I can still enjoy it as a TV show. So now I've gone through all 13 episodes, and it's very much shocking that I managed to do so in a mere two days. This is more than proof how crappy I was feeling yesterday. To be fair, though, after ingesting a Lemsip Max (i.e. 1,000 mg acetaminophen in powder form to be mixed with hot water) I managed to put on and hang two machines of laundry. My prime accomplishment of the day.

And while we're talking about new TV shows, I'm now also watching Breaking In. Still, the concept is frighteningly similar to White Collar and Breakout Kings (Jeff Eastin might have started a trend), but there is a reason I'm watching this show, and it's not any of the actors. It's the show's co-creator, actually -- Adam F. Goldberg. Because, see, I've met him in person. It's kind of a long story, but he's co-written the movie Fanboys, and I met him at the set of the (since cancelled) remake of Revenge of the Nerds. I'm not sure he'd remember me, but I sure remember him. So of course I had to watch what he's come up with.

I must say, usually I'm not a big fan of TV shows that try to mix comedy and drama (can you say Chuck?), but I actually really like Breaking In. The cast is great, and the characters are quirky, yet not too fake The dialogue is hilarious. I'm sure my seat neighbor (the one that must hate me) thought I was a little strange because I chuckled out loud a few times when I watched the pilot on the flight home. And, boy, am I embarrassed that I didn't recongnize Christian Slater until episode 1x02, or what? So that one's a keeper for now. And I need to make sure to drop Adam a note about it some time soon.

And, uhm, yes. I watch too much TV. I should rather be telling you about the grand week I spent in Copenhagen with Steffi. But I'd rather do so when I have edited and uploaded my pictures, because it'll be more fun that way. But since I was feeling crappy yesterday, I didn't get to do any of that. And it looks like the rest of the week is gonna be busy too. Rain check?

Last but not least, there is one good thing I have to say about my cold. At least it distracted my body from the clearly visible, yellow layer of birch pollen that is covering everything outside. I'm sure that if my immune system wasn't fighting this URTI (upper respiratory tract infection), I would be in flaming hot pollen hell right now. Blessing or curse? You decide. Note to self: Stock up on antihistamines.
