Fanboys finally hits German theaters!
Yay, Fanboys finally made it over to Germany! I subjected myself to the torture of watching it dubbed into German last night, and I have to say that even though the choice of dubbing voices was bad, the translation was actually really good. All the jokes worked quite well, and people laughed in all the right places.
When I say "people", I mean the eleven folks who were in the theater, including me and two of my friends. So I guess it's safe to say the movie isn't going to become a great hit in Germany either--which is mostly because of non-existent advertising. I go to the theater about once or twice a month, and I have not once seen a Fanboys trailer, so I doubt one was shown much or at all. I'm pretty sure there was no advertising on TV. And except for the theater where I watched the movie last night, I haven't seen any Fanboys movie posters, especially not outside of movie theaters. It's no surprise the movie is flying under the radar.
What's kinda cool, though, is that my favorite radio station (EinsLive) chose Fanboys as this week's top pick. Very nice!
I just wish they would have stayed with the original cut, which is so much better. I still don't understand why Weinstein ever wanted the movie recut.
